Malacca Portuguese Cuisine - Simply Mel's @ The Sphere, Bangsar South

It is my second visit to Bangsar South and had an invitation for the food tasting/trial run (Simply Mel’s a brand new restaurant). Since it’s newly open, they have very few dishes to try out at the beginning.
Malacca Portuguese Cuisine - The ingredients and influences by Malay, Indian, Chinese and Nyonya styles of cooking. Since the choices limited, we ordered Mel’s Devil Curry, Nasi Lemak with ‘Tambrinhyu’ sambal & Serai Chicken and Nasi Lemak with Assam Prawns. Nasi lemak was delicious in its own way. I didn’t expect the Assam Prawns to go well with rice and sambal, but surprisingly, it did. And our drinks is Orange juice & coke..

Desserts - They have few choices of desserts of the day & we wanted to try out something & it is the Sugee cake.  This is like a butter pound cake, except that it is made from semolina flour and ground almonds which give it’s a gritty crumbly texture.

Dinner was satisfactory and service was friendly. Overall, 'Trial Run a REAL RUN!' We had a blast. We appreciate and enjoyed the good food. I’ll definitely come back for more home-cooked delights.
